Dog Training Collar with Remote

Straight talk first: this is an electric training collar with a remote. It is not a GPS tracker. It will not show you where your dog is on a map. What it does

Remote training, up to 1,640 feet. Enough range for the backyard, the park, or the trail. The remote is small, about half the size of your palm, so it rides in a pocket fine.

Beep, vibration, and static stimulation modes. Most dogs respond to the beep or the vibration and never need anything stronger.

Rechargeable. The collar holds standby for about 15 days, the remote about 20. No buying batteries every month.

Waterproof receiver (IPX7). Rain, puddles, and the occasional swim are fine.

Read this before you use it

A training collar is a communication tool, not a punishment device. Used right, it is a tap on the shoulder from across the yard. Used wrong, it is just mean. Here is how to use it right:

• Always start with beep or vibration. Most dogs never need anything stronger. Start there and stay there if it works.
• Lowest setting that gets a response. If you are wondering whether the level is too high, it is.
• Keep sessions short. Ten to fifteen minutes, then the collar comes off.
• Never leave it on an unsupervised dog. And do not leave it on all day. Necks need breaks too.
• Not for puppies under 6 months, and check with your vet first if your dog has a heart condition or seizure history.
• Watch your dog, not the remote. If your dog yelps, panics, or shuts down, stop. Put the remote down and call a trainer. A good trainer is worth more than any gadget.
